Must freezing be repeated?
Not automatically. Diagnosis, site, number, impact, age and the previous reaction should guide the choice.

If your child fears another visit after painful wart freezing, do not assume the same procedure must happen immediately. Bring the dates and number of sessions, how long pain lasted, blister and wound healing, and what the child fears most so age, site, number and diagnosis can guide assessment, home care or other options.
“The last freezing was so painful that my child refuses to return. Must it be frozen again?”
The AAD says cryosurgery can be painful and is used mainly in older children and adults. NHS guidance also notes that young children may not tolerate repeated treatment. Age alone does not decide the method; describe the previous pain and recovery.

Observation, home treatment, prescription care or procedures may differ by site, number, pain and duration. A facial lesion, a large painful plantar lesion, multiple or recurrent warts, or diagnostic uncertainty needs assessment. Do not predetermine either repeating or abandoning freezing.

Explain that the first step is to show the lesion and ask questions. Do not promise no pain or say a procedure is inevitable. Prepare a stop signal and help the child name the main fear. Ask whether this visit can begin with assessment, whether a topical option is suitable, or whether care can be staged.

Near Gangnam Station, Seok-Yong Jo, PhD in Korean Medicine, draws on 24 years focused on wart care to review previous treatment records with the current lesion. The visit checks age, weight, site, number, post-freezing pain and blisters, medicines, allergies and fear. If a viral wart is confirmed and Korean medicine is suitable, individualized herbal and selected local care may be considered. Bomyunghwan, Bomyungtang or pharmacopuncture are not applied identically to every child, and painless care, cure or non-recurrence is not promised.

No method can be promised completely painless. Ask the treating clinic about available pain control and its limits.
Each examination and treatment can involve different discomfort. Fear and wound status are checked before deciding what is suitable.
This applies AAD, AAP and NHS information on childhood warts and cryotherapy. It does not choose treatment for an individual child or predict a Bomyung outcome.
